Not all artists show up in index pagesEdit

I see that the Paul_Simon page shows in http://lyricwiki.org/index.php?title=Category:Artists_P but not in http://lyricwiki.org/index.php?title=Category:Artists&from=P Dan, a new visitor, April 30th 2007, 7:43AM (EDT)

Image Not Showing UpEdit

I tried putting album cover art on an album page, but even if I have a working image link it will not show up in the page: Opeth:Orchid (1995)

Yet the image link is good: [[Image:Opeth-Orchid.jpg]] --Father_Chaos 21:09, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Very strange. If I recreate the page just how you have it everything works fine. Something glitched, I guess. Did you copy and paste? I'll leave it how it is so that others can examine it.--Kiefer 22:43, 16 March 2007 (EDT)
Hmm... it appears that teknomunk has fixed it by changing ".jpg" to ".jpg"? Um... what? (at least it worked!)
-Sean Colombo 17:33, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
I think that there was a non-printing character or something similar involved.

Frou Frou doesn't show up in list of artists Edit

Its page has the "fLetter=F" tag but it doesn't show up under F in the list of artists.

It does show up, but on the third page http://www.lyricwiki.org/index.php?title=Category:Artists_F&from=Franchize+Boyz%2C+Dem right column, 6th item.

Problems Post-Website Redesign Edit

Ever since the LyricWiki was revamped, I find myself editing pages and surfing around when, suddenly, nothing will show up on any pages except the headline. After waiting ten minutes or so each time, I will refresh and it will be back. Considering how repeatedly this happens, I was just wondering if it is a browser issue of mine, or if anyone else is also experiencing similar problems.

JavaScript Error on pages Edit

I'm using IE 6.0, and almost every page I visit generates a Runtime Error: "Line: 3, Error: Syntax Error". If the Microsoft Script Editor is showing me the right code, it appears to be the line starting with a semi-colon in a noinclude block. If I disable debugging, then the message is "Line: 4, Char: 1, Error: Syntax Error"; I think the line number difference is just that one is counting the initial comment and the other isn't. Thank you for the detailed bug-report. It's fixed now.

Bot Screwed up Edited Page? Edit

--Bobbit 04:57, 5 January 2008 (EST)

http://www.lyricwiki.org/index.php?title=Bryan_Adams&diff=0&oldid=1409983

I deleted all those songs off the page two nights ago as they are duplicates and don't belong. Why did they come back?

This is not a mistake, the bot is doing exactly what it was intended to do and that is to add orphaned songs the the artist the pagename says it belongs to. By deleting the links from the artist page, those pages became orphaned and were then added back. To make sure they don't come back, they need to either be redirected to the correct page (this is done by replacing the contents of the duplicate page with #REDIRECT [[Artist Name:Song Name]] with the appropriate names replaces) or have the song marked for deletion (by adding {{Deletion|reason}}). We would prefer that you redirect the page rather than mark it for deletion because an administrator will probably just change it to a redirect to prevent the page from being added back into the database under an incorrect name.
I hope this answered your question, but if I missed something or you have any other questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page or below.

Help with page.... Edit

Can someone help me with my Dane Cook page found here: http://lyricwiki.org/Dane_Cook:Retaliation_%282005%29

whenever I try to add song 7 [WARNING LANGUAGE] it does not create the normal link....is it too long or something?

please help, thanks in advance

Danielw719 19:59, 11 March 2008 (EDT)

The square brackes [] throws off the software because it thinks it is an external link. To make it work, you will need to put <nowiki>[WARNING LANGUAGE]</nowiki> instead of [WARNING LANGUAGE].

Two versions of the same song, different lyrics Edit

I just entered a new album for an artist. However, some of the songs on the album are newer versions of an older song. When I try to enter lyrics for the new version of the song, I find lyricwiki points to the lyrics of the original version of the song. How do I create a new page for the new version of the song, so I can put in the unique version of the lyrics for the newer song? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Browse (talkcontribs).

To differentiate between two versions of the same song (as long as the changes are more than just incidental/minor differences), add a parenthetical add-on like (Live), (2008 Version), or similar to the song title in the link. Short add-ons are best, but whatever is most appropriate to identify the song is acceptable.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   22:46, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Is there a way to make album covers fit the section in the list? Edit

The problem appears when the height of the section is less than the height of the image.

[ and ] in page names Edit

Lemon Demon's latest album View-Monster has a whole heap of tracks with the square brackets used for page linking in the track names (about every second song, at the moment I've just listed them as Untitled (which is infact part of the name of the songs which use the square brackets)), for this reason they cannot be used in page names (although they can be used in the display text). This isn't covered in LyricWiki:Page Names#Technical Restrictions so what should be done in this case? The Light6 08:42, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

I'm confused. I looked here and there are just normal track names. Do you have an image or a website for reference? Are you saying the track names are things like
  1. Mary Has A [Little Lamb]
? If so, perhaps we could agree on a symbol (perhaps regular parenthesis) for the actual page file and then use <nowiki>[</nowiki> and <nowiki>[>/nowiki> in the display name. --Aquatiki - T - E 10:02, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
That page only shows the main tracks, the actual album has 32 tracks (not counting the bonus tracks). Which are ordered as so.
1. Kaleidoskull
2. Untitled [view-monster]
3. Amnesia Was Her Name
4. Untitled [hippocampus]
ect with every second track being named "Untitled" followed by a sort of pseudo-name in the square brackets. I guess the best response would be to do what you said and use ( and ) in the page name while giving the display name [ and ]. The Light6 10:46, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
Sounds like a plan. I have add the details to LyricWiki:Page Names#Technical Restrictions. Good catch! --Aquatiki - T - E 11:46, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

Anyone else have lag? Edit

It is taking an abnormally large amount of time to pull up pages and refresh pages on LyricWiki. I will edit a page, save it, and it appears as not edited. I was going to move text from the bottom to the top of my userpage in two edits, and the first one won't show up (and therefore cannot make the second). -PatPeter 19:57, 30 August 2008 (EDT)

We are on the cusp of upgrading our server, but someone bumped up the job queue to over ten million yesterday. We are planning on waiting until it's around zero and then tying in a second server. One of the main reasons for the upgrade is performance issues when the job queue gets over many thousands. --Aquatiki - T - E 18:54, 31 August 2008 (EDT)

"LyricWiki (en)" and "LyricWiki (English)" Firefox search engines? Edit

Using Firefox's search engine manager for LW, it notifies me: Add "LyricWiki (en)". Sweet, so I do ^^. However, it still says the same thing, Add "LyricWiki (en)", with LyricWiki (English) on the list. I believe it has to do with the difference in name, and that the Manager does not register "English" is the same as "en". Anyway of bypassing this minor error and/or just using LyricWiki (en) for the name? :)

Thanks in advance.
-- BryghtShadow (talk,うタ歌,contribs) 09:35, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

We recently upgraded our software. (en) is the new one. --Aquatiki - T - E 09:58, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see. However, FF seems to convert (en) to (English) once on the Search Engine list, and here it seems to believe that I haven't added it to the list. So, even though I add (en)--and it becomes (English)--, it still says (en) is addable. Might have to tweak the FF Search Plugin coding so that it remains (en) when added? :) --BryghtShadow (talk,うタ歌,contribs) 10:04, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Are you using FF 2 or 3? --Aquatiki - T - E 01:05, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
That would be FF3 (3.0.3 to be more specific). --BryghtShadow (talk,うタ歌,contribs) 11:04, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Only a few pages exhibit this behaviour, and it appears to be somewhat intermittant. Try this one : Toadies:Sweetness. I can resave the page and sometimes make it go away, which I'll refrain from until you finish debugging. I'm running Windows XP SP3. Internet Explorer 7.0. Misbehaves in Safari 3.1.2 also. The link Toadies:Mexican Hairless shows similar behavior, but only the second advert (below the lyric) shows up. Iglam 18:00, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi guys, Im trying to move a certain page because it is named wrong but there is no move tab at the top of the page of any page for that matter... Whats the deal?? sevenlee 17:06, 26 April 2009 (GMT)

Due to bouts of vandalism we have recently had, the settings have been changed so newly registered users can't move pages immediately. IIRC the move tab will be available to you after at least four days and/or at least 50 edits. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! Sorry for the inconvenience. Two Songs, same name Edit

I noticed Bon Jovi has two different songs with the same name: Open All Night. Those songs are totally different, one belongs to the album "Bounce" and the other to the album "100,000,000 Bon Jovi fans can't be wrong...". I was trying to correct the lyric but both album pages link to the same song, so one of them would have the wrong one. The idea is to add a new page to link it correctly. I not pretty familiar with the editing process and I would like some help to that. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.197.129.132 (talkcontribs).

That's strange that they would be totally different, but have the same title. But...such things happen. The second (most recent) version should have some sort of parenthetical add-on added to it, like "Open All Night (Live Version)" or "Open All Night (2001 Version)", something like that that is appropriate. Try not to have the add-on be 4 characters long if at all possible. Four characters inside of parentheses is "read" by some applications as being an album page, and that can get a bit weird.
Also, if you have questions in the future about such things, the LyricWiki:Help Desk is a better place to go, as all the admins have it on their watchlist and therefore you are more likely to get a quick answer. Also, four tildes (~~~~) are used to automatically sign your comments/questions on talk pages such as this one. It lets others know who is speaking, and also time-stamps the comments for reference. Hope all of this help you in your editing. Welcome to LyricWiki, and hopefully you'll feel good enough about contributing here that you'll log in and get a User account. Happy editing!    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   20:26, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Are you sure you're not following it? The user preferences have an option to automatically follow pages you create, which IIRC is turned on by default. If you aren't, it's probably a bug and you'll have to contact the wikia sysops.
Of course you could just disable getting emails for changes to followed pages entirely, also in your user preferences. — 6×9 (Talk) 06:56, September 15, 2013 (UTC)

Cover Tag Corrupting PageEdit

Whenever I try to add the 'cover' template to Emily Ann Roberts & Morgan Frazier:I'm That Kind Of Girl (originally recorded by Patty Loveless), the page becomes totally corrupted and the lyrics can't be read. (For some reason, it also thinks I haven't specified the language of the page). I haven't previously had any problems labelling a song as a cover, including for collaboration songs.

EDIT: the lyrics do appear, but *under* some weird guff which looks like the lyric-space background and the list of external links.

SECOND EDIT: this appears to be happening every time I try to use the cover template, including when I try to edit pages which already have the cover template and were previously fine. --RWDCollinson (talk) 11:56, January 7, 2016 (UTC)
