October 31, 2013: Stand For Something by Skindred

Reiterating that famous line, "Stand for something, or you'll fall for anything," within its chorus, this number fits right in with Skindred's ability to blend a message in with killer riffs, hooks and face-meltingly amazing vocals (on behalf of the good Benji Webbe, formerly of Dub War). At its core: a message of hope, but one wound around warnings of destruction and disillusion. Absolutely worth a listen for any lover of quality music, regardless of bias for genre.

October 20, 2013: The Fox by Ylvis

Because, despite what people think, in my opinion, this song is rather humorous and great to listen to, thus I would like to see it get SOTD at least once.

October 19, 2013: We Used To Wait by Arcade Fire

I nominated this song because it stands as a testament to the death of the personal written letter in the face of unbridled digitization. I remember only 10 short years ago regularly writing my pen pal; now we cannot escape each other on Facebook or by text message. I will reminisce fondly on this song one day when I explain to my children we used to write letters to stay in touch and wait patiently for a response from the world beyond.

Kings of Leon's new album is being released next week and this is a beautiful song that makes all of us KOL fans expect this album really bad.

October 13, 2013: Peyote Healing by Robbie Robertson

I nominated this song, because upon returning home from surgery to remove a bladder tumor, I played this song to help me. Not knowing the results of the pathology, I was hurting spiritually. Robbie's song pierces right to the soul. And the pathology results today... Thank you, Mr. Robertson, thank you for making this available to us all.

October 10, 2013: D'ror Yikra by Oi Va Voi

It's very rhythmical and energetic, it's an ancient Hebrew song, with a great oriental flow. A work of genius that never bores me.

Very few people know the story of Nicki Minaj. This song pretty much sums it up, creating a beautiful, emotional, and powerful work of art.

October 02, 2013: Shepherd Of Fire by Avenged Sevenfold

The song that kicks off the amazing new album from Avenged Sevenfold, Hail to the King. There are really no words to describe how great a song Shepherd Of Fire is. From start to finish, it proves that even though they have shifted to a different sound in their genre, Avenged Sevenfold is still able to utterly amaze their audience.

October 01, 2013: I Want To Tell You by The Beatles

I nominate this song because this is one of George Harrison's best songs, plus the addition of the fade-in, the rare E7♭9 chord in each verse, and Paul's use of melisma in the fade-out.
