May 31, 2013: Madre Terra by Globus

It's beautiful. It should be played in church! It's very empowering and brings tears to my eyes.

May 30, 2013: ナルシス・ノワール by Ali Project

After nominating Papillon Rinne two year ago and winning, I decided to come back and nominate Narcisse Noir (Black Narcissus). It is one of the first ALI PROJECT songs I heard (sometime after Kinjirareta Asobi) and when I first read the lyrics I was truly touched by the song. Although some say it parallels the legend of Narcissus, it has a story of its own. The beautiful arrangements of violins and cellos, bundled with a lone piano make the song beautiful, but it is the singer's voice and the story she tells that makes the song truly moving, sad and beautiful. ALI PROJECT's music has had a profound affect on my life and continues to dazzle me. This song itself has had a truly profound affect on me. I hope--no, I know--it will do the same for you. Also, the song has been put together with animation from Haruhi Suzumiya in a truly exquisite video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8I-_uAlYfw0

And the song's melody itself sounds similar to Decadent Sentimental Song (as I have just found out from reading comments on the animation), as you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBV1ZEp1mHk and here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dUIbeYZVSI

ALI PROJECT is truly a marvel.

Preferred Date: May 30, 2013 (I just remembered, it is Ali Project's tenth anniversary. If this song wins, it will be a great present for them.)

May 29, 2013: One Thing Remains by Jesus Culture

If everything else goes wrong in one's life,God's love will enfold us and strengthen us and fill us.It will be like a fountain that overflows.

May 28, 2013: 23.55: Alles Auf Anfang by Wir Sind Helden

The lyrics of the band makes them stand out a fair bit - and this is a very nice song that helps to motivate me, especially the 6th verse which managed to be a permanent filler of my email signature. :)

May 27, 2013: Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil

Oh, Midnight Oil...such an underrated Aussie band. This is just one of their amazing songs. Great drum rolls, a really neat-sounding chorus, and just all-around amazing!

May 26, 2013: One More Cup Of Coffee by The White Stripes

A great cover of a great song by Bob Dylan. Jack gives the song his own special sound, making it a lot darker than the original tune. I also like the poor recording compared to other studio-mastered songs especially of the late 90s. The live-version on "under nova scotian lights" is also quite good, much more powerful. So, one more cup of coffee before I go, enjoy this cover.

May 25, 2013: Power And The Passion by Midnight Oil

Straight from the Aussie band that spawned one hit in the US, "Beds are Burning", this underrated work of art is great. It's a really unique song. It even has a drum solo which they used 3 drum kits to make! How crazy is that?

May 24, 2013: I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow

Bow Wow Wow took a classic '60s hit for the Strangeloves, added some heavier guitars and a Bo Diddley beat to it, and they had a perfect cover. They were a one-hit wonder, sadly, but this song remains one of my favorites from them.

May 23, 2013: Realove by Hall & Oates

The drums are amazing and the lyrics are so true. The vocals are equally awesome, Daryl Hall never shys away from some improv. The feeling of the whole song is like a jam session and the fun-ness and free flow of that reflects on the tract. It's just a fun song.

May 22, 2013: Wild Honey Pie by The Beatles

This is one of the Beatles more... odd songs. Off of their White Album, this song is just under a minute and was recorded entirely by Paul by overdubbing vocals and heavily plucking guitars. The result was a silly Beatles song that remains as one of the more controversial yet memorable songs by the group, and is also one of their shortest songs, the shortest being "Her Majesty".

May 21, 2013: Little Lion Man by Mumford & Sons

This song is my very favorite song of this year, because it has everything! It starts slow, but you get a glimpse of what's yet to come.

When the singer begins, i always have to smile and of course i need to sing along.

And when in the chorus the banjo begins to play, there is no way, it could keep my heart at ease.

I simply love this song.

May 20, 2013: Long, Long, Long by The Beatles

This is a rather underrated Beatles song. Many people consider this unknown masterpiece one of Harrison's best pieces, some even think it's better than "Something". A rather quiet song, this beautiful piece of art was featured on their White Album. What this song was famous for was at the very end, Paul had left a wine bottle on one of the amps, and when he hit a certain note on the organ, the wine bottle started to shake, causing the distinct rumbling noise you hear at the end of the song.

May 19, 2013: La Isla Bonita by Glee Cast

I nominate this video, because... well I feel like something important is missing in my life every time I hear it. And it makes me wanting to learn Spanish.

Just watch the video and you´ll know what I´m talking about.

May 18, 2013: Brejker by SunS

The first ever song by Suns, it set the foot for Macedonian rock everywhere. Highly influenced by Badmingtons, it was included on the compilation album for Pop Rock Fest '92.

May 17, 2013: Antibodies by Poni Hoax

This song is an amazing song. Starts out with an amazing keys riff, and has a groovy bass, then transforms into a ballad of sorts towards the end. This is really an underrated song and I wish more people knew about it.

May 16, 2013: Two Princes by Spin Doctors

I nominated this song because it's awesome. It describes the age-old 'Betty & Veronica dilemma'. There are two 'princes' who love this girl for different reasons. It's a great song.

May 15, 2013: Revelations by Iron Maiden

May 14, 2013: Mission (A World Record) by Electric Light Orchestra

This song is just so magical, but in a way, if you give it a second thought, it almost sounds dystopian in a way. One of ELO's more underrated songs from A New World Record, this is a quiet, calming melody that will send chills down your spine.

May 12, 2013: Handle With Care by Traveling Wilburys

It's amazing to think that such a group like Traveling Wilburys existed and released 2 spectacular albums while they were together. Who would ever think rock legends Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, and Tom Petty would ever play music in the same room with each other? They made it happen - and this song is definitely one of their most legendary. It might sound like average rock fare to you at first (as it did to me), but you have to think to yourself - this actually happened! Roy Orbison might have unfortunately died during this group's run, but he sure did an amazing vocal job on this song.

May 10, 2013: Tightrope by Electric Light Orchestra

This song is magnificent. Then again, when isn't an ELO song magnificent? This song, though - the intro is so suspenseful, and when the suspense finally hits you, the strings start a chilling melody will automatically give you goosebumps. Guaranteed. I don't understand why Jeff Lynne deemed the string section superfluous later on in the band's career when really, they aren't the same without it. This is a really powerful song with constant changes in time signature to keep you on your toes for the entire length of it.

May 09, 2013: Make It Stop (September's Children) by Rise Against

Because this song says something, about being different than most others. It also addresses the bully's and how you shouldn't let those destroy your life.

May 08, 2013: Standin' In The Rain by Electric Light Orchestra

This is such a beautiful, out-of-this-world song by ELO. The dreamy-sounding keyboard intro just pulls you right into the ELO void as you go into a 4-minute journey full of heavily distorted, echoing vocals, pounding drums, and prominent synth riffs.

May 07, 2013: Krabat by ASP

The German song Krabat is about the recently late Otfried Preußler's tale of the same name. The story is summarized in a very beautiful and moving way. Notably ear-catching is the use of strings, sprechgesang in the verses and singing in the chorus creating a very dynamic sound.

May 03, 2013: Float On by Modest Mouse

An amazing song, and definitely Modest Mouse's signature song. The guitar licks are really clean and funky-sounding, and the drums, vocals, and bass just complete it perfectly. This song also brings back the memories of playing Rock Band 2 for the first time, as this was one of the first songs I played on it.

May 02, 2013: Motivation by Thi'sl

It's by an underrated artist and it's the most popular song on the album. It's a BANGER. Lyrics are powerful, as he talks about making it out of the hood and motivating the rest of his hood to follow him and make it out also.

May 01, 2013: Deep Dark Wells by Joe Pug

I nominate this song because it's beautiful. It emphasizes the idea that we can all fall and feel defeated but we can still get up and get going again. The song was written by Harvey Thomas Young and Joe Pug's cover of this song has made it famous.
