July 29, 2018: Shut It Down by Lyrics Of Two

I nominate this song because it has so many positive and motivating messages in the lyrics. It always motivates me to get up and get going. Even when I am feeling down I listen to this song and just feel totally refreshed and excited about going for a run or doing stuff that I kept putting off. I love the strong lyrics and motivating messages.

July 28, 2018: Once Upon A Star by Bay City Rollers

I nominated this song because it reminds me of when I was a teenager, and Les McKeown is still brilliant. In concert, his voice is even better than before.

July 27, 2018: Saturday Night by Bay City Rollers

I first heard this song on the Planter's commercial in 2004-05 and I was wondering who sang this. It was thanks to Sirius Satellite Radio I finally discovered it was the Bay City Rollers. Plus, it was the band's only #1 hit in America.

July 26, 2018: For All You Know by Midge Ure

The lyrics sound so true at the beginning of a new year, it’s always so moving to listen to such a great artist tell what he feels.

July 23, 2018: Stay The Night by Benjamin Orr

It was quite a surprise when I discovered that this was Orr's only top 40 hit as a solo artist before he died of pancreatic cancer in 2000. I decided to nominate this song as a dedication to him.

July 22, 2018: Action by Streetheart

Streetheart was a fantastic band of the late seventies and early eighties. Highly underrated.

Preferred Date: July 22, 2018 (Lead singer Kenny Shields passed away on this day in 2017... RIP)

July 21, 2018: Jordan by Buckethead

Expanded from the shorter version usually played in concert, for inclusion in Guitar Hero II, it's one of the most innovative progressive metal songs I've heard. Buckethead's technique is, plain and simple, mind-blowing; I've always thought the riffs of "Layla" and "Eruption" were fast, but Buckethead could run circles around Clapton and Eddie Van Halen.

July 20, 2018: Shadow Of The Day by Linkin Park

A few days ago, I discovered that the band's lead singer, Chester Bennington committed suicide by hanging himself on July 20, 2017. I decided to nominate this song as a dedication to him.

July 19, 2018: 心臓を捧げよ! / Dedicate Your Heart! by Epica

Terrific song! Great arrangement from the Japanese original. Alongside the beautiful voice of Simone and the chorus in the background. The performance of the guitars, bass and drums is great.

July 18, 2018: Finesse (Remix) by Bruno Mars

I nominate this song because it is a really good song and it was just released today (January 3, 2018). It is a really feel-good party anthem that everyone needs to hear. It also has the retro feeling that is commonly associated with Bruno Mars, especially because it gives 90s vibes.

July 17, 2018: Electric Blue by Icehouse

I feel very lucky to have this as my favorite Icehouse song. Lucky because of a Lucky 7 as in peaking at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988.

July 16, 2018: I Want To Tell You About What I Want by Robyn Hitchcock

Sublime stuff. Robyn Hitchcock at his best, with his surreal, sardonic humour coming through. Music like this is extremely rare and highly underrated. You'll find yourself grooving and smiling to this song.

July 12, 2018: Burning Paper by The Folk Implosion

July 10, 2018: You Are Not Alone by Michael Jackson

What I find interesting about this song was that it was not written by MJ, but by R. Kelly. Interestingly, this song was in the same beat as R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly". It gained fame as the first song ever to début at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. 15 years later, R. Kelly recorded his own version as a tribute song after MJ's death.

July 09, 2018: Shine by Collective Soul

I forget how I discovered Collective Soul, but their breakthrough hit is kind of the best of both worlds; it's not as heavy as some of the hard rock bands I like, but it's also got a distinctive alt-rock beat to it; I think it's the guitar riff that hooked me right off the bat.

July 08, 2018: The Blue Velvet Band by Hank Snow

I nominate this song because I remember my father singing it to my mother and I when I was a teenager. This song is very sentimental to me and has the sweetest lyrics.

July 07, 2018: I Found Someone by Cher

I have heard a lot of versions of this song. There was a demo version sung by Touch (keyboardist and singer Mark Mangold wrote this song). The song then came into fruition when it was sung by Laura Branigan in 1986 though it only peaked at #90. Cher then recorded her version of this song and it was a smash hit, peaking at #10 from 1987-88. Michael Bolton, who also wrote this song, sung his own version of this song in 1995. Out of all the versions I heard, the Cher version is the one I like the most.

July 03, 2018: Yo Mate A Juan Charrasqueado by Pedro Infante

I like the message of this young man defending the honor of a young woman that he loved so much. It tells so well of the true passion and hurt that only a person deeply in love can feel.
