OnLoad Syntax error in js
Hi, Sean; wanted to ask you: haven't you made some changes in 'stat.js' file during last few days? I'm asking about that because on-load behavior of all LW site pages have changed. It may be not evident in normal browser window, but if you try to load any LW page into Windows app. MS$ WebBrowser controll or HTML page controll <Iframe>, you'll get an error msg: "A Runtime Error has ocurred. Do you wish to Debug? Line: 39. Error: Syntax error." on every page load. Debuger indicates to the file "http://lyricwiki.org/stat.js". First comment line in this file ("// 20090201 by Sean Colombo - This file tracks which types of pages are being hit and allows ads to be loaded AFTER the rest of the page so that they don't block.") points exactly to the date when OnLoad behavior of LW pages has changed. Would you be so kind to take a look at that? For testing you may use any html page, containing element <iframe src="http://lyricwiki.org/"></iframe>. Tia, --Senvaikis (talk) 07:26, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Additional option for testing on IE: You can enable this error msg appearing on IE togging (enabling) browser option "Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Browsing/Display a notification about every script error". --Senvaikis (talk) 07:54, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oops! :( - Was this in IE 7 or IE 6? I don't have a box with IE 6 on it available (because of that annoying way that it upgrades to IE 7 where it wipes any traces of IE 6 and won't let you go back and install 6 again. Anywho... I made a change to it (on line 39). Is it better already? or should I go hunt down a computer w/IE 6? I also turned on that error-setting you mentioned in IE 7, so hopefully I should notice any problems more easily in the future.
- Thanks!

Weird Problems
I don't know if the problems I'm experiencing are related to the above (or if it's personal - lol) but something very weird is going on in bottom section of edit window (below Summary). If I try to preview or if I write in edit summary (like I did a minute ago) my browser immediately crashes (closes). There was also some weird iunderling thing going on too and part of window was a nice shade of grey but interstingly when I turned WikEd off that problem went away. So I don't know if all these problems are related to the WikEd script but it seems to me it could be a possibilty. Also when I click in Firefox on back I am not getting list of pages just "LyricWiki". See screenshots. [1],

- Thanks for the info & the screenshots (those are always extremely helpful when something gets visually messed up. I'm not sure what went wrong and I doubt it had to do with the stats.js problem since it appears you're using FireFox. I think we just include the javascript directly from the URL where the creator put it... so maybe they were making live changes (don't know anyone who would do such a thing! 0:-))? I hope that's all it was.

Script error again
After some server freezing now all is fine, at least for FF owners. But not for those, who are using IE. On every LW page Load it generates error msg:

WARNING: Outdated family file lyricwiki: namespace['en'][7] is set to default ('File talk'), but should be 'Image talk'
∃cho⚡ierr∀ (☏) 09:00, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm, not quite sure what that means. I don't use Pywikipediabot (assuming that that's what you're using??). Do you know what the 'family file' is that it's talking about? Never seen this before & I haven't been messing around with namespaces as far as I know, so nothing is really jumping out at me as the cause.
- -Sean Colombo (talk|contribs) 02:09, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- In the families subdirectory of your pywikipedia directory, you'll have a family file for any wiki you use your bot on. E.g. I have appropedia_family.py for Appropedia. You can modify an existing one to make a family file for another wiki. See here.
- The 2nd & 3rd warnings just mean you have the names entered differently in the file from the way it's set up on the wiki. Fix it to remove the warnings, but I think it won't actually affect the successful running of the bot.
- Not sure about "No character set found." I'm wondering if it's something to do with a non-English script (e.g. a European alphabet with accents over some letters). You could ask on the mailing list. Good luck! --Chriswaterguy from Appropedia, 08:02, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

- How'd he take care of it? I was just looking into this same thing and it appears that the problem is that our SORTNAMEs have just the songname in them instead of Song,Artistname and the pagination works by using the SORTNAME as the offset (so if there is a full page all with the same sortname, we can't paginate.
- Did he just make a change to the bot-framework to skip to a different page? Like this?
- It might be good for us to get a more permanent fix in there like adding the artistname to the sort-order.
- -Sean Colombo (talk|contribs) 16:17, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
