ÜB parsing

Song: Ten Years After:I'm Going Home (Live at Woodstock)<br/>
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007<br/>
Reason: I've never seen the full Woodstock (film), but I managed to find this TYA performance on YouTube. Rocking about 11 minutes, Alvin Lee displays a lot of his influences, including a sample of Elvis Presley's "Blue Suede Shoes" early into the song. I think "I'd Love To Change The World" really only scratches the surface of TYA's career. This is the performance that made them. XNPX-9QXgGM

Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007<br/>
Reason: I found this performance from CMT Crossroads on YouTube, and it really rocks. Def Leppard can still rock with the best of them, and it's amazing that Taylor Swift is only 19. Check it out: Gh6WKvQaCK4

My fault Sean?  Яєdxx Actions Words 02:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Not your fault... I really need to make ÜberBot able to handle info after the link. Will do that very soon!
-Sean Colombo (talk|contribs) 11:37, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Cool... should be fixed now (surprised this didn't come up very often, then came up a bunch of times in a row :) ).

Reason: I've never been an REO Speedwagon fan before, but I think this is one of the greatest arena rock songs ever. The original studio version on 1973's Ridin' The Storm Out just doesn't compare to live REO. o81lrKxbQYk

Me having a bot

Hi Sean,

together with Red and 6 I am heading to get my own bot for LyricWiki. Therefore I now created the bot's account "Botanic". Could you please give this User the bot-status? Thanks in advance - Chris 11:09, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

User:Botanic has been marked as a bot. Please place a note on the User page that that account is a Bot with a link to your personal User page, then things will be groovy-cool in case anyone needs to contact you about any problems or bot weirdness. (Ask Redxx...those bots sometimes have a mind of their own and need to be knocked down a byte or two!) Thanks!    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   17:33, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes of course there's gonna be a note, but as long as it wasn't a fact that this is going to be my bot I didn't want to create a page, that is deleted afterwards^^ Thank you =) - Chris 01:49, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for getting that Kiefer. Things are a bit crazy for me right now (nothing bad, just strange things popping up)... should be back to normal site work by the weekend rather than just businessy stuff and dayjob stuff.
Thanks again,

Song of the Day - "Preferred Date" Nominations

Have a look at "Michael Jackson - Earth Song"-nomination, preferred-Date has got some text, I'm not sure if this breaks the preferred-date-script/system then. - Chris 18:21, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Should be okay. Preferred date is just a manually done thing... ÜB ignores preferred dates as far as I recall.
Thanks for checking!

Auto-confirmation

Hopefully this response is not only accurate, but also not too much information given away. Feel free to correct the response and rebuke me if I've aided the dark side. --WillMak050389 00:05, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Looks great :) Thanks!

suggestion - default search

Dear Mr Colombo, I have a suggestion, can you add a MediaWiki search field in addition to the google search as this is convenient for non-mainspace stuff?— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 96.255.102.205 (talk), 02.01 27 May 2009 (UTC).

Hi,
If you click on the "Firefox Search Plugin" or "Netscape Plugin" or just add the search box to any OpenSearch compatible browser (Opera, IE, Safari, etc.), then you can use that search box which will give you the default search. Alternatively, you can use the Advanced Search page.

suggestion - ads

I have a suggestion too. You say you created this site because you were tired of the lyric sites with invasive ads. Well lyricwiki has those awful flashing "millionth" visitor ads and such. I really wish you would switch to something less invasive like text only ads from google or something easier on the eyes like the well designed ads via the deck http://decknetwork.net/ (no affiliation - I've just noticed how elegant they are). I think a wiki for lyrics is a great idea, but I just can't bring myself to contribute to a site that is so painful to look at with those terrible ads.— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.227.163.237 (talk), 03:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC).

Thanks for the input. Text only ads unfortunately are not an option since they don't pay enough to keep the site alive. I'll look into The Deck again, when I first looked at them, they were only for Blogs and I'm not sure if that's still the case or not.
-Sean Colombo (talk|contribs) 00:57, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, it definitely appears to be for sites also (WikiRank is in The Deck which is a pretty complementary audience). I've sent them a message and we'll see where it goes. Thanks for the idea!

Namespace shortcuts

I think you should

$wgNamespaceAliases['LW'] = NS_PROJECT;
$wgNamespaceAliases['LT'] = NS_PROJECT_TALK;

This would save time in typing. For example on Wikipedia WP is the abbreviation. Sharp eyes 01:30, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Ah, neat feature! I put that in.
Thanks for the suggestion,

The S-word again

A while ago you announced a Semantic test on the comm. portal… Any results? — 6×9 (Talk) 11:58, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

That testing got derailed like the day after I posted that or something - one of our servers died so we had to send the "test server" into the datacenter to pick up the slack. It was pretty lame timing :( SMW eludes us once a-gain.
