Album.Cover usage Edit

Hi, Hard4me.

Dont't know if you've noticed, that some your album pages were reedited, removing parenthesis ("{{...}}"), surrounding cover image filename in albumHeader parameter Cover. I think I understand where they came from. Sometimes, when you add a new image to an album page, warning "The image displayed above lacks an {{albumcover}} template" appears. This warning probably has led you to conclusion, that image filename should be surrounded by parenthesis, especially after you've found that such surrounding seemingly solves the problem - warning dissapeares after that. But if you take a look at the bottom of such page, you notice, that this page still belongs to Category:Albums displaying template-less art, e.g. - problem still remain unsolved.

So what this warning is about? It tells us, that something should be done with the added image, not the albumheader.cover parameter. According to our image uploading policy every album image should contain {{albumcover}} template. This warning just informs us that image, used in albumheader.cover, still lacks this template. The best way to avoid this warning in the future - just add required info while uploading the image. If image is uploaded already - just open it in edit mode and enter required mandatory info (artist,album & year), as was done here.

When You Believe + Stop changing formatting when not needed Edit

LyricWiki's own standards state that songs with sections sung by separate artists should be set bold, not bracketed. Please stop changing pages that follow this standard. Unless the standard changes, I believe they should be left this way.

Also can you please provide an explanation why you believe Mariah Carey:When You Believe is the correct artist? It seems to always be credited to both singers, not one as a featured artist. Thanks. sssh 10:08, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

I don't understand what other song you're talking about, as I don't see any discussion of it on its talk page, so that reference isn't clear to me.

But sorry, that's not true about When You Believe. Both singers have it on albums, both from the same year as the movie, no less, and both singers list it as a "duet" not a "featured" performance by the other. See [2] and [3]. Both covers of the single also list both artists, and in both orders: [4] and [5]. And finally, if you watch the music video, it lists both artists [6].

"Real covers" Edit

Hi, Hard4me,

looking at some your resent uploads (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc.), often commented as "real cover", i decided to ask you to be more carefull while reuploading a new versions of cover art images, and follow some basic advices:

1. always try to provide the source image was taken from (in addition to desirability of this info that'd prevent you from some mistakes, listed below);
2. don't reupload alternative coverart image over original, - not every US release is the main release of album;
3. try to find an image with best admissible resolution. So, when you are taking an image from wp, use better the original image, not a thumbnail from wp article (that's common mistake on most other your uploads from wp);
4. and finally - please, don't change original album title to match the title of rerelease.

could you please tell me what's going on here? Senv brought my attention to some edit war you and Nic were having against each other. Regardless of whose version was correct after all, both of you should know that edit wars are the least-wanted actions to happen in wikis. And there's a simple rule to assure that: you never revert a revert. Really, never ever; also, if somebody else does: don't do it. It's not going to lead anywhere, you know?

So avoiding edit wars is absolutely important in general, but as both of you are admins, this behaviour is just ridiculous. I'm sorry if this reads very rude, but I'm actually a bit disappointed of you two regarding this case. You became admins because you contributed excellent work and showed a steady behaviour. And looking at your recent contributions, I see you're still contributing a lot of great stuff now, so I can't see what drove you two into a situation where you don't seem to communicate anymore except for the edit summaries? Arguments are to be exchanged on the song's talkpage, not in summaries. And if you don't come to an agreement, ask other admins for help. I hope both of you know that.

You were also missing out updating the AOTW page for weeks. What's the problem? If you don't want to be responsible for that page anymore, that's okay, as long as you tell somebody beforehand, please.

I'm running this by multiple admins... Can you or someone else please review the actions of admin 6 x 9 in his massacre of many hours of user labor on the Depeche Mode page, please? He feels Singles should not be listed unless they contain exclusive content, for redundancy purposes supposedly. Can you please weigh-in on how a thorough page warrants being stripped of its content and left a mangled mess of inaccuracies? For instance, he deleted Singles of "Dreaming of Me" and "New Life", which even according to his own standards, contained non-album tracks. I would appreciate any comment, as I do not feel it is right to undo so much legitimate content because one mod wants it that way. I know I will not be participating in this site anymore if so many hours of work can be undone on a whim. Thanks for your opinion

Hey, bro. For the past year or two, I've noticed you've been doing multiple things incorrectly here, so I wanted to teach you a brief little "wiki-lesson" of three things I've noticed you doing. I’ve told you some of these things before, but you forgot them.

1. The "youtube embed" template doesn't need the 'Y' capitalized. It literally changes nothing and is pointless to capitalize. I’ve seen you do this multiple times when the template was in all lowercase.

2. When it comes to the Covered templates, there’s no point in removing the title parameter if they’re the same title as the song in question. Back in December, Lwt went through all the pages with the Covered template on them ago and added the title parameter to the songs that had artists in the Covered template that didn’t have a title parameter next to them. See here for example. He added them back for a reason, so don’t remove them like I’ve seen you doing.

3. Don't always trust the first genre listed on an album page on Wikipedia as the album to put on an album page here. Wikipedia lists multiple genres to suit an album the best it can. What you need to do is choose the one that fits the overall album best, not just add the first genre listed on Wikipedia.
