Allmusic song review by by Matthew GreenwaldEdit

A deep, introspective ballad, "The Tower of Learning" is guided by a neo-classical, almost hymn-like melody and arrangement, featuring a fabulous string arrangement. Lyrically, the song is about gaining wisdom through love. There is a neat reference to Paris and its environs to the words, which locates the song in an easy-to-relate-to geographic local. One of the many hidden gems on Rufus Wainwright's Poses album...derekbd 17:19, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
