Other Songs Edit

I see that some songs on the Other Song list have slightly different lyrics to what's already listed under the correct albums. e.g. 1Stp Klosr. What to do with them? For the moment I shall remove the ones that don't have any differences.
--BryghtShadow 00:29, 6 October 2007 (EDT)

  • Actually, I think I might leave them there for easier reference for others, but flag pages with Delete or add redirects. --BryghtShadow 00:58, 6 October 2007 (EDT)
A person could go crazy trying to decide what parts are correct on which pages and trying to merge them. Examine the different versions. Odds are that one of them (likely/hopefully the correctly titled page) appears better edited. (Each line has the initial letter capitalized, there is album information available, etc.) You could also check the bottom of the page where it states how many times the page has been visited. More visitors likely means a better chance of being edited to be more correct. But when push comes to shove, if there isn't a clear winner, redirect the incorrectly titled version to the correctly titled version.
Usually, if it might be a common misspelling, capitalization, or mis-title, then redirect it. If the title is just horribly mangled in its spelling or such, then it should be deleted.
I'll take a look at what you may have marked and see what clean-up there I can do. Kiefer KieferE KieferTalk 01:54, 6 October 2007 (EDT)
Okay, thanks. I might add that the song It's Goin' Down is by The X-Ecutioners, but features members of Linkin Park, such as Mike Shinoda and Joseph Hahn. Here's a Wikipedia article about that: It's Going Down (X-Ecutioners song)
--BryghtShadow 04:05, 6 October 2007 (EDT)
Actually, that whole entire section doesn't belong there, it's full of songs that are either listed somewhere else on the page, don't exist, or have absolutely nothing to do with Linkin Park. It's Goin Down should be listed under the X-Ecutioner's page with a "Feat. Mike Shinoda and Joseph Hahn of Linkin Park" next to it. Not in the Linkin Park page, where it has no business being. The band didn't write the song, and the entire band doesn't appear on that song. I've tried to fix it, but everytime I do, someone just reverts it back to what it was.
Also, I might add that that particular version of 1Stp Klosr is, a demo remix by the Humble Brothers, made, I think, before Reanimation was even thought of. It was found on the LP DVD Frat Party and the Pankake Festival. --Reflectionist
Actually, that whole section needs to be dealt with before being deleted. Most pages likely need to be redirected to the correctly named page. Deleting the list only ensures that the Janitor bot will re-add them to the page. (In this instance, I restored the list myself.) I have left a note at the IP address that you used detailing the various ways that these song pages can be dealt with.
As for the X-Ecutioners song: it is perfectly reasonable to have the song to the Other Songs list or even (as some artist pages have) to a "Songs Featuring Linkin Park" list. Please don't make the false assumption that it has "no business" being on the page. That is your opinion, not policy, and should be stated as such.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   17:53, 26 October 2007 (EDT)
A question on the Other Songs Section... What do I do if there are songs there by other bands, or by Chester, or by Mike individually, completely seperate of Linkin Park? Chester has a solo album coming out under the name "Snow White Tan" but that's not really exactly the right place to put those either. What should I do?
And, also, there are tracks there that aren't by Linkin Park at all. Or they don't need their own page because a better one already exists. How do you delete them?Reflectionist 22:24, 30 November 2007 (EST)
Songs by related artists (Chester, solo recordings, etc.) should be moved so that they are under the correct artist name, and not Linkin Park. (Or redirected if the page already exists.) There isn't a "Related Artists" section yet, so one could/should be created to easily link to these artists.
As for the other, non-LP songs, the same thing should happen to them. (Move/Redirect.) Probably the lyrics came from some site where someone added them because they "sounded" like they were LP or something. This would take a little bit of Google power to perhaps figure out whose lyrics they really are. Once a song is moved or redirected to the correct artist, then it can be safely removed from the Other Songs list without the Janitor bot automatically re-adding it. If you do a search and can't figure out who the artist is of a particular song, then create a temporary list under the Other Songs list headed "Songs Under Investigation - True Artist Unknown" or some-such thing and drop me a note on my Talk page and I'll take a look at them when I next drop in.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   20:46, 1 December 2007 (EST)
I agree, but I can't seem to redirect pages that I know the original artists to, like, Grey Daze, or Spiritfall or some other band, because there's already a correctly titled page there where there should be one. I'll tell you what, I'll do my best to edit the page, adding what songs I recognize and incorporating them into the main LP page, and then the rest should be marked for Deletion. Reflectionist 00:39, 2 December 2007 (EST)
I think you may have confused a redirect with a move. A page can be made to automatically go to another, pre-existing page with #REDIRECT [[Artist Name:Correct Page Title]]. Remove whatever contents the page has and replace it with the redirect command and then all should be good.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   23:27, 2 December 2007 (EST)

I have the entire discography of Linkin Park so I took the initiative and compared all the songs that were in the "Other Songs" section and have removed most of them. They were generally repeats of what was already there (as we all know). Some had bad formatting, some had lyrics missing. Some had the wrong names (especially those from "Reanimation" in the "Other Songs" section). The only songs that I could not identify were the following: Anymore, In This World, Held Nothing Back, Hold Nothing Back, Over The Top, S.C.O.M., Saturation, In The End (Remix), Morning After, System.

They are not listed under an CD Single release. Although some of them were listed on other lyric websites I couldn't find any other references. I left them there though. And "In The End (Remix)" doesn't contain the same lyrics as the Reanimation version. I have no idea where it's from. Maybe from some live recording.

I also added two other songs to "Minutes To Midnight" which are on the special edition European Tour version.

One last thing, some of the demo songs have alternate names and so were listed as the alternate in the other songs section, so I added "AKA blah blah" next to some of the songs in the "Demos" section. Chromana 08:13, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

Other Songs UpdateEdit

Since you are all clearly fans, I thought you might be interested in reading this article >>> Tibal Ink.

You will note that I have also now redirected the following songs:
Which leaves the following, which unfortunately I didn't have a lot of luck with:
  • Over The Top (possibly also Tribalistic Ink)
  • In The End (Remix)
  • Anymore
Hope that helps!  ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 20:00, 18 May 2008 (EDT)

Live In Texas Edit

I noticed someone changed the tracklist from the DVD version (with the full concert) to the CD version (which cut 5 songs for logistical reasons). Is that okay, or should I put the more correct version up? Technically, Live In Texas included the 5 cut songs, but only on the DVD, they were later a part of LPU 5, I think. So until someone says different, I'm putting them back. --Reflectionist

What you did looks fine. Generally, I don't think we're necessarilyi trying to include Music DVDs, but as long as the DVDs don't clog a page up and make it unwieldy to users, I don't see a problem.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   20:46, 1 December 2007 (EST)
Thanks! I was trying to figure out a way to do it without going into the whole "This is a DVD, here's a completely seperate tracklist for the DVD... etc. etc." Coincidentally, I came up with a similar problem in the Other Songs section regarding some songs that only appear on the first Linkin Park DVD. I put them in their own section with some collaborations.Reflectionist 00:39, 2 December 2007 (EST)
I hate a question regarding Linkin Park:One Step Closer (Live). The lyrics change live (there's a reanimation section added in verse 3) but under Live In Texas, the lyrics for Linkin Park:One Step Closer are listed. Should we list the live version there? Same goes for Linkin Park:By Myself from Live In Texas (there's an intro added). KaBoOM 444 22:50, 4 January 2008 (EST)
Make the change. We want to be accurate to each CD. Good spot.  Talk  Chromana   01:16, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I've moved the Linkin Park:One Step Closer (Live Version) to Live In Texas but a song page needs to be created (or note appropriately made) for the live version of Linkin Park:By Myself.  Яєdxx Actions Words 03:47, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

DeletionEdit

Okay, everyone. I created a page for Chester Bennington, painstakingly looked through the Other Songs section, and went and took all the songs that had a reason to be somewhere else on the page, and put them there. All songs that came from singles, like Buy Myself, I just listed as a B-Side for simplicity, and I'm pretty sure that's what they are. The rest of the songs have no where to go. I've looked up their artists, and everytime I find where one should go, suprise. There's already a page there. So I can't really redirect or move the page. I also have no idea what to do with the remaining tracks that are just mistyped. So, everything in the Other Songs section as of now, has no business existing, as far as I know. Kiefer, can you delete them? Reflectionist 01:20, 2 December 2007 (EST)

Hold up. Some of those are by Grey Daze (Chester's Previous Band). I'm redirecting those. They shouldn't be deleted, as they're common errors. (People on YouTube claim "Sometimes" is by LP quite often.) KaBoOM 444 00:45, 3 January 2008 (EST)
I have something else to say.. Wrath Of Me is definately not LP, nor are Open Your Eyes, Without You, Morei Sky, In This World, Piercing The Skin, One Night, Real Life, Spin, or Tupac And Biggie Tribute. I did google searches for them and only found one result for each. Due to this, I'm assuming that these song never existed by any band (if they did, there would be more results for those lyrics).
As for the Grey Daze songs (and other songs by LP related bands like Fort Minor, which are commonly attributed to LP), I suggest we create a section for Songs By Other Bands, Commonly Attributed to Linkin Park which should stop this mistake from happening in the future. I'll do the work on that if I'm given the go ahead. KaBoOM 444 12:19, 3 January 2008 (EST)
The ordinary thing to do that work here and on Wikipedia is to create a redirect page for all the stuff in question and if loser keep coming along and changing them, make them protected pages. --Åqúàŧĩkī - É - Ŧ 13:16, 3 January 2008 (EST)
Spin is by Grey Daze, actually. Feel free to make that section though. It might help out a bit more. Reflectionist 17:03, 9 February 2008 (EST)

Plaster (One Step Closer Demo) Edit

This was recently found in the LP community and will surely become widely available within the next few weeks. I'm going to go ahead and make a page for it, but it'll be redlinked. I should be getting it soon. Don't delete the link! I know the song was said to not exist, but it's been found and now there needs to be a page for it because the lyrics are so different. Reflectionist 16:34, 9 February 2008 (EST)

Vertical Limit & Points Of Authority Demo 2 Edit

This songs aren't demos. The song with name "Vertical Limit" have the right name - "Points Of Athority (Second Mix)". This song was a sound track for "Little Nicky" movie. I'm deleted this songs from the list. P.S: I'm Russian. Sorry for my "weak" english.94.75.24.107 00:23, 29 August 2008 (EDT)

What happened to the demo and Unground tracks? Edit

Self explanatory, really. KaBoOM 444 01:14, March 28, 2011 (UTC)

I'm adding all of them...the page's gonna be BIG soon :D @alapshah12297 ---> Talk ---> ╒ ß 16:59, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! Edit

Hey Hard4Me,
Thanks a lot for your corrections (especially the '9' instead of '(' and the capitalizations).

And if you're reading this then please consider the following:

  • I'm renaming "Wretches & Kings" back to "Wretches and Kings" as per this, this and of course, this (official site)
  • I do see why you have relinked the live versions, but I don't see why have you renamed the (Live In Madrid) songs to (Live) - so I'm changing them again.
  • The (NoBraiN) remix to The Catalyst has slightly different lyrics than the original version, so I'm creating another page for it.

Anyways, thanks for the other edits @alapshah12297 ---> Talk ---> ╒ ß 17:15, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Formatting Edit

Someone went and divided the page up into section, same thing happened to the Slipknot page awhile ago. I reverted it to its original format and added the following.

  Khelpcenter

Please keep the list of releases chronological and do not divide this page up into sections. If in doubt, refer to this.

Please, do not reformat the pages into categories. Keep them chronological, the rules say so. -------<THE GMoD - Admin - Founder - Slipknot.Wikia.Com>---- 05:02, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
