Did some huge capitalization cleanup on this artist. Some things to note:

  • I like Bowie, but I'm not enough of a fan to know if all the titles are correct or not. Fixing the capitalization and moving/redirecting lyrics into place was the main goal here. If there are some titles (or anything else) incorrect, please fix with my thanks.
  • Removed the entire contents of "Other Songs". (Save for "Fame '90", which is legitimately there. Pretty Woman soundtrack, wasn't it?) A lot of what was in that list will be fixed by the capitalization repairs I did. And rather than try to reconcile the resulting duplicates by hand (not easy for me, not being familiar with a lot of Bowie's earlier works), I thought it might be wiser just to delete them all. When the Janitor bot makes his next pass, the songs that weren't fixed will show back up, and I'm sure the new list will be much smaller and easier to work with.

Meet the train, Redxx! (I'm taking the break ;))--Senvaikis (talk) 08:08, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Thanks for your help kicking this page into shape Senvaikis. Hope to see you back here again soon. Enjoy your summer!  ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 18:50, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Indentation of headers

Is this a mistake?
And did I muck up the API thingy by adding the numbers to the Labrynth tracks Senv? I think it's best to show the actual track numbers but if this presents problem - revert. ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 14:01, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

It is likely you've just forgot our discussion about that :). But I'm already resigned to all forms of API defiance; truth to tell, it deserves such defiance ;) Cheers,--Senvaikis (talk) 14:25, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
You asked if last revision is better; answer is positive - it's 'better', because it requires less efforts for formatting ;) As for API - there is absolutelly no difference: it grabs only parts of page, formatted using pattern "# '''[[Artist:Song|Title]]'''". Look at API call result for demonstration. But as I've said already, there are other, more serious API limitations, making this issue negligible :). So, once more - let it be... --Senvaikis (talk) 15:19, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
I know I'm really stupid, but I am trying to understand this. Thank you for example, it proved very enlightening. However since this is formatted exactly as you say it needs to be and is the same as Other Songs (which do appear), can you please explain what is API's problem with this: David Bowie#Songs from Singles? It's not a sub heading. It is also formatted using pattern "# '''[[Artist:Song|Title]]'''". ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 15:30, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
That's me who is stupid - decided to make a little demo for you, but forgot that API may be cached, so made too many unnecessary changes. But now you can see the difference, just check the same API call (and don't forget to add any dump parameter, of type"&qq=qq"). I must leave now, sorry for mess in DB page, cu later,--Senvaikis (talk) 16:03, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
(I've saved the link) Whilst this is very interesting Senv (thank you), I don't see how making a header link to an album page is answering my question. By which I mean the section headed Other Songs is not linked to an album page, but it appears on that API results list. So why not Songs from Singles (unlinked of course)? There is absolutely no difference in formatting between the two sections.
This being so it seems to me there's more to this API malarky than meets the eye. It's as if there is an instruction somewhere which specifically tells the API thingy that with the exception of a header named "Other Songs", to only list section 2 headers which are links. If I am right and that instruction could be amended, we would not have this problem. *wishes Senv was on the phone* ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 17:01, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi again, I'm back, now from home. I'm not sure if this talk page is a proper place for such discussions, so shortly: yep, as I understand, OS is a special case having it's own exclusion from general rule. To avoid making such mess as I did in DB, you may want to see all API response diversity just using the same API call to examine such existing pages as Fleetwood Mac, Frank Sinatra, John Lee Hooker, Muse, Pink Floyd etc. I'm on skype, on gmail, on gtalk, on msn ...on phone too ;) --Senvaikis (talk) 17:50, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
:Thanks Senv. I have a better understanding of the problem now. As I suspected, it is the way the rule is written that is the problem. (I have also put John Lee Hooker on my To Do list.)  ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 22:31, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Sure is. Hopefully a Bowie fan will add the album someday.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   17:27, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
