Regina Spektor:Après Moi
From LyricWiki
This song is performed by Regina Spektor and appears on the album Begin To Hope (2006).
I—uh—must go on standing
You can't break that which isn't yours
I—uh—must go on standing
I'm not my own, it's not my choice
La-da-da, da-da-da
Be afraid of the lame
They'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old
They'll inherit your souls
Be afraid of the cold
They'll inherit your blood
Après moi, le déluge
After me comes the flood
I—uh—must go on standing
You can't break that which isn't-isn't yours-yours
I—uh—must go on standing
I'm not my own, it's not my choice
La-da-da, da-da-da
Ah, uh, uh, ah, uh
La.. da.. da...

Февраль. Достать чернил и плакать!
Писать о феврале навзрыд,
Пока грохочущая слякоть
Весною черною горит.

[edit] English TranslationFebruary. To reach inks and to cry! To write about February sobbing, Thus far crashing slush It burns with in spring black.
February. To reach inks and to cry! To write about February sobbing, Thus far crashing slush It burns with in spring black. Alternative translation: Black spring! Pick up your pen, and weeping, Of February, in sobs and ink, Write poems, while the slush in thunder Is burning in the black of spring. I prefer this translation of the lyrics: February. Get ink, shed tears. Write of it, sob your heart out, sing. While torrential slush that roars, Burns in the blackness of the spring. (For those who don't know this is the first verse of Boris Pasternack's "Black Spring". The alternative translation is the most common one.) |
[edit] Translation
"Après moi, le déluge" simply means "After me: the flood".
