[edit] Speak To Me
[edit] Spoken Words
"I've been mad for fucking years, absolutely years,
been over the edge for yonks, been working me buns off for bands for so long..."
"I've always been mad; I know I've been mad, like the most of us are...
Very hard to explain why you are mad, even if you're not mad..." 1

[edit] Breathe
Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave but don't leave me
Look around and choose your own ground
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, run rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one2
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race toward an early grave.
Don't be afraid to care
Leave but don't leave me
Look around and choose your own ground
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, run rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one2
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race toward an early grave.
[edit] Notes
- Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon is known, among many things, for its addition of spoken clips over top of the music. The spoken clips were chosen to fit into the concept of the album.
- Official lyrics from original LP read "Don't sit down it's time to start another one"
- "Speak To Me / Breathe" is a combination of the first two tracks from the original track listing of The Dark Side of the Moon. On subsequent reissues and releases, they have often been combined as one track.
