From LyricWiki
All previous nominations have been moved to the queue and will become a Song of the Day soon! Feel free to keep nominating...

[edit] Criteria
- Only nominate songs with existing song pages. Nominations where the song name is a red link will be rejected.
- Check to ensure that the song has not already been Song of the Day. If the song has already been Song of the Day, a {{SOTD}} badge will be displayed on the page.
- A nomination needs to be something more than "I like this song." At a minimum give a thoughtful, personal reason why you like the song. In other words, if your reason is not unique and could apply to any song, it needs something more. Pages without enough substance will be moved to the Pending section, where they will remain until corrected.
- The nomination should be written in coherent English. It doesn't need to be perfect grammar, but it should show that some effort was put into getting it right!
- Add links to any LyricWiki pages referenced in the nomination, e.g. artist, album and other song pages. This will not only give more substance to your nomination, but adding links helps new editors familiarize themselves with the site. Such links can also include category pages. For example Billboard Hits, Number-One Hits, Covers and Covered. See also: Genre, Lists, and Hometown. Links can also be made to pages on Wikipedia, where pages do not exist on LyricWiki.
- Include a link to the song on GoEar {{audio}}, or on YouTube {{video}} (you can usually find the song on one or the other). If you love the song enough for it to be SOTD, let others enjoy it too!
- Lyrics should be checked for accuracy and to ensure they are correctly formatted. See Help:Formatting/Songs.
- The song page should be as complete and as near perfect as possible, since if successful, your nomination will be in a predominant position on the site's Main Page. At the very minimum check that an album has been entered in the {{Song}} template, that the language of the lyrics has been entered in the {{SongFooter}} and where an article about the song exists on Wikipedia, that a {{WP-Song}} badge has been added to the page. A "Credits" section should also be added, and if the song is a cover of another artist's original, a {{Cover}} template added to the page. If a translation has been added, ensure this has been formatted correctly. See Help:Translations for more information on this subject.
- To avoid queue jumping, "Preferred date" nominations will only be considered if a reason for choosing the date has been provided.
- NOTE: Nominations which do not meet the above criteria will likely remain in the nominations queue longer than pages that have been completed. Nominations which require a lot of additional work before they can be progressed will be moved to the Pending section.
- NOTE: Nominations which do not meet the above criteria will likely remain in the nominations queue longer than pages that have been completed. Nominations which require a lot of additional work before they can be progressed will be moved to the Pending section.

[edit] Nominations
Song: "A Day In The Life" by The Beatles
Nominated by: jasocova
Reason:The culminant song of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. As many have stated, this album is what made music be what can we hear nowadays. It continues what the reprise of the title's song left, like the applauses. It starts with a casual day, an accident was reported as a man crashed his car and was left headless (this is constantly referred as the death of the real Paul McCartney. The one that we hear today is just someone trained to look like him. This has not been proved yet). Later, the narrator tells he went to see a movie, after an orchestral bridge in the song. Another orchestral bridge and John Lennon begins to sing about waking up early, having common morning trouble (Woke up, fell out of bed[...]looking up, I noticed I was late). Then, as the end comes closer, the narrator starts to say of a shooting in Lancashire. Finally, the orchestra enters again, tensing the environment, when a crashing piano finishes the album that made history.
Song: "The Approaching Curve" by Rise Against
Nominated By: 65.30.118.226
Reason: This song is one of a kind. It has spoken vocals, singing vocals, and female backing vocals. It is something that isn't done a lot and I've never heard another song like it. The song tells a tragic tale. Though sad, it is a really good song.
Song: "The Game Of Love (E=MC^2 Mix)" by Jenny Rom
Nominated By: Mimiko
Reason: The second I heard this song I was INSTANTLY addicted to it. It's fast paced, electronica/techno type that WILL ultimately claim you as well! It would be considered one of my favorite English songs, if it not for the lyrics, which are rather "stereotyped" and kind of stupid. Albeit, I love it anyway, :)
Song: "Human" by The Killers
Nominated By: 76.27.73.194
Reason: A song that's lately been kicking ass and taking names, I'm surprised it isn't on the list already! Combine the soft and strange lyrics (over which much argument has been had) with the catchy beat, and it'll bring you straight into it. Termed a dance song by The Killers, I'm afraid to say it's more of a 'listen to me sitting... constantly... seriously, don't gut up, just keep listening' type song. A song that will hold your attention and maybe question "Are we human? Or are we dancer?" Or maybe, are we really something else, like delusions in the head of some gigantic, fish monster thing with wings in the shape of pretzels? It's all open to interpretation with this song.
Song: "Kuso Breakin No Breakin Lilly" by マキシマムザホルモン (Maximum The Hormone)
Nominated by: Mimiko
Reason: An odd song it is, going back and forth between rock and metal, opening with a musicbox of the chorus. Not to mention the band's ability to sing screamo during rather pleasant, happy, refrain music.
Song: "Another Postcard" by Barenaked Ladies
Nominated by: Mimiko
Reason:Absolutely addictive song, :) I mean, come on, who doesn't love a song about a guy who gets a myriad of postcards with chimps on them from an anonymous sender? Instant favorite of mine.
Song: "Together" by Avril Lavigne
Nominated By: Silverget
Reason:It's a good song about loving someone you just can't be with. You just don't feel connected to them anymore. You feel bad but you want the relationship over.
Song: "Thank You" by Hellyeah
Nominated By: Aurora801
Reason: I nominate this song because it is one of their good songs. And because it is a good representation of my and a friends relationship.
Song: "Walking On A Dream" by Empire Of The Sun
Nominated By: 222.155.236.97
Reason: A wicked song I've been listening to for pretty much 5 months. This is one of Empire Of The Sun's best songs considering they've only been around since October '08. "Walking On A Dream" is extremely relaxing and grows on people easily.
Song: "Déjà Vu (All Over Again)" by John Fogerty
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Comparing the Iraq War to the mistakes made in Vietnam, I think this is one of John Fogerty's most powerful solo hits. There's not much else to say; the music says everything:

Song: "The Old Man Down The Road" by John Fogerty
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Infamously the center of the 1985 lawsuit against John Fogerty for plagiarizing himself, I think it's aged well over the past twenty-plus years. It's certainly one of my favorites.
Audio on GoEar
Song: "Evil Ways" by Santana
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: A top ten hit for Santana, this is one of his most recognizable hits. With great lyrics, and some great Latin music infused into the song, it's hard not to like.

Song: "I'm Your Captain (Closer To Home)" by Grand Funk Railroad
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: A favorite on classic rock radio, this ten minute opus by Grand Funk Railroad is becoming a personal favorite. Although the two songs are different compositions, the segue is so seamless, it's impossible to detect. And, as a single, I'm surprised it reached #22 on the pop chart. But it's beautiful either way you look at it.

Song: "That Green Gentleman" by Panic At The Disco
Nominated By: Alice
Reason: After the departure of lyricist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker on this past Monday, I was more distraught than I have ever been about any band, ever. I listened to some of their songs on my iPod, and when I heard "That Green Gentleman", it was like a personal consolation from the band members themselves. Yes, things can change, and Panic at the Disco tells a listener in the best way in this song. [1]
Song: "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder
Nominated By: CWay
Reason: This funk masterpiece is a defining sound of Stevie Wonder, and for many listeners (myself included), his or her first exposure to this great artist. I remember the opening of I,Robot with its distinctive drum and clavinet riff that perfectly complements the tone of the movie. This song introduced me to the rest of Wonder's music, as well as funk and soul as a whole. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Song: "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: This song has got one of the best riffs in progressive rock. Ian Anderson has such a great voice, and his guitar/flute playing are pure magic.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I don't have the full Aqualung album, but I've heard this song on various compilation albums, and it's one of my faves. I've never really considered the flute to be a rock music instrument, but Ian Anderson definitely tops my list.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Bungle In The Jungle" by Jethro Tull
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I think this song is as un-progressive rock as can be, compared to some of Jethro Tull's other songs. But it's a great song any way you look at it.

Song: "Oh Yeah" by Chickenfoot
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The first single released to radio stations from Chickenfoot's debut album is quickly becoming a popular staple of the hard rock genre. Any fan of any of the four band members is sure to enjoy it.

Song: "Soap On A Rope" by Chickenfoot
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Originally available on Chickenfoot's official website, I think it's got one of the best riffs from Chickenfoot. Listen to it here:

Song: "Down The Drain" by Chickenfoot
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: One of two songs with writing credit contributed to the whole band, I think this is the most popular Chickenfoot song, at least in the classic rock territory I'm in. I may not be the biggest Chickenfoot fan, but it's definitely some great music.

Song: "Like Suicide" by Soundgarden
Nominated By: Joojoojabba
Reason: The greatest song in Soundgarden's discography, which finishes the critically acclaimed album Superunknown, presents a rich integration of atypical hard rock melodies and haunting lyrics, empowered by Chris Cornell's versatile voice. This is truly the template for what a rock album should end with.
Audio on GoEar
Song: "Good-bye Days" by YUI
Nominated By: Mimiko
Reason: One of YUI's sadder songs, Goodbye Days was used in a movie as well. It's probably one of my favorite songs of hers, and always brings a little tear to my eye.
Song: "Rockin' In The Free World" by Neil Young
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: A criticism of former president George H. W. Bush, it's one of Neil Young's most energetic songs. In addition to a favorite from Neil's catalogue, it also gained exposure from its appearance over the ending credits of Fahrenheit 9/11 – a film which, coincidentally, criticized Daddy's son George W. I think the song remains as significant now as it did in 1989.

Song: "Down By The River" by Neil Young
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Ending side one of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, it's remained one of Neil Young's signature songs for 40 plus years. Neil is such a great guitar player, it's hard to add anything more. Just take a listen:

Song: "Rock And Roll" by Led Zeppelin
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Based on a traditional twelve bar blues progression, it's a classic Led Zeppelin tune. Although it wasn't a hit by the strictist of Billboard standards (peaking just shy of the Top 40), it reached the Top 40 in one other country, and the Top 20 in two more. But it's definitely a treasure to any music lover.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Hair Of The Dog" by Nazareth
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I think this is one of the best hard rock songs to come out of Scotland. The opening cowbell and that guitar riff kick some major hard rock ass.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Here I Go Again" (1987) by Whitesnake
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Whitesnake's only #1 hit in 30+ years of performing, I think it's one of David Coverdale's best compositions. And the music video didn't hurt the song, either.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Spiralling" by Keane
Nominated By: Madadude
Reason: This is a great song with one of the catchiest beats and lyrics out there. It is the fastest downloading song ever for Universal and is definitely one of the best songs ever written.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Bible Black" by Heaven & Hell
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The first single from Heaven & Hell's debut album helped the album reach the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It's got the same kind of style as "Heaven and Hell" from Black Sabbath, but it's very different, as well.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Great White Buffalo" by Ted Nugent
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: A live staple from Double Live Gonzo!, it's some awesome music. I've never been the biggest Ted Nugent fan, but he's a popular request in my radio territory.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Wango Tango" by Ted Nugent
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Opening Scream Dream with a bang, it's been one of Ted Nugent's most popular tracks for almost 30 years. With some manic guitar playing, it's not hard to see why Nuge is called "the Motor City Madman".
Music video on YouTube
Song: "3D" by I See Stars
Nominated By:SplinterEstrange
Reason: I honestly think that I See Stars is a band that more people should know about. With only one CD from them, 3D, they have made a huge impact on me and have quickly become one of my favorite bands. Then after seeing them play this song live they were so good that I liked them so much more after it.
Song: "Tarantula" by Pendulum
Nominated By: 24.19.134.152
Reason: Pendulum's first album is a prime example of drum and bass, and indeed, electronic music in general. This particular song is a favorite because of the smoothly delivered rap in sync with the killer beat.
Song: "Mama Kin" by Aerosmith
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Supported by a simple chord progression, it's a popular track from Aerosmith's debut album. And although it never reached any major music chart, it's still four and half minutes of rocking music.

Song: "You & I" by Bare
Nominated By: Rumpleteazer
Reason: This is a truely amazing song from an almost unknown musical, and sums up the troubles that many young LGBT people can face with their partners and those around them.
Song: "Fly On The Wall" by T.A.T.u
Nominated By: Rumpleteazer
Reason: Extremely catchy, this comes from t.A.T.u's most recent album. Lena's melodic vocal combined with the force of Yulia's on the chorus truly captures the obsessive nature of this song.
Song: "Just Another Day" by Oingo Boingo
Nominated By: Off the Cuff
Reason: A well known and catchy song by Oingo Boingo, this song is relatively tame compared to many of Danny Elfman's songs dealing with paranoia and social norms. It does, however, illustrate my (and perhaps many others) feelings of insecurity and chaos covered by a thin, calm veneer in today's world.
Song: "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" by Elton John
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Breaking his mold as a mellow singer/songwriter, Elton John produced this punching Top 20 hit in 1973. When I first heard it, it didn't make a big impression on me, but once I gave it a chance, I found it's really a rockin' song.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" by Guns N' Roses
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: One of the most popular covers of the Bob Dylan song is a staple on classic rock radio. Everything about it makes it worth the five and a half minute running time.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Running just shy of nine minutes long, it was the longest song to reach the Top 10 on the Billboard singles chart. And I don't know what hits me so hard about the song, but it's an incredibly moving love ballad.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "All Right Now" by Free
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I was so surprised when I learned this was the unofficial fight song of the Stanford Cardinal. Since my dad is a Stanford graduate, I feel connected to the song somehow.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Hoochie Coochie Man" by The Allman Brothers Band
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: This version of the Willie Dixon song was the first one I ever heard. Its tempo is a bit faster than some other Allman Brother hits, but it's definitely one of my favorites from Gregg and Duane.
Audio on GoEar
Song: "In My Time Of Dying" by Led Zeppelin
Nominated By: Quiteunequal
Reason: There's nothing better than arguably the world's greatest rock band of all time just rockin out for 11 minutes, and that's all this song is about. Every member of the band is at it's best, and if you turn it up as loud as you can and let it build up, the song will suck you right in.
Audio on GoEar
Song: "Save Us" by Trouble Over Tokyo
Nominated By: Parsprototo
Reason: The first Single-Release of his first professional album Pyramids, "Save Us", is a great song about hope, desperation and faith. It shows some bible-knowledge and seems very authentical to the listener. Along the way, it perfectly shows what T.o.T.-Frontman Toph is thinking of when he's calling his work "Indielectro". A great song, which woke me several times on radio
Song: "Burn" by Deep Purple
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Taking over from "Highway Star" as Deep Purple's opening stage number, it's a bit different from the Ian Gillan era. But David Coverdale's voice and that guitar riff make up for it a lot.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)" by Pat Travers
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Performed as a call-and-response between Travers and the audience, it's got some great music. I'd never heard of Pat before hearing this song on the radio, but it's a great boogie woogie number.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Bad Company" by Bad Company
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: One of the few songs in which the song, album, and artist names are all the same, it's one of Bad Company's most recognizable tunes. The melancholy opening is a stark contrast from the segue into hard rock, but it's definitely one of Paul Rodgers' best compositions.
Audio on GoEar
Song: "Indestructible" by Disturbed
Nominated By:Nich 69.245.170.202
Reason: I'm a runner, and this song gives me the motivation to fight through any pain in order to accomplish my goals, its a truly inspirational song, and it was dedicated to our U.S. troops in Iraq by Disturbed at one point.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Bang The Drum All Day" by Todd Rundgren
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: A perfect song to start off a weekend, it's got one of Todd Rundgren's most recognizable riffs. It's three and a half minutes of enjoyable pop music.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Going Down" by Jeff Beck
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I'd only really heard of Jeff Beck because of his membership in The Yardbirds, but I really like this song from the Jeff Beck Group. It's seven minutes of some pretty awesome music.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Free Ride" by The Edgar Winter Group
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The fourth track from They Only Come Out At Night was The Edgar Winter Group's second Top 20 hit (behind the #1 hit "Frankenstein"). With its ostinato riff and some catchy lyrics, I'm not surprised it was as popular as it remains.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Live To Tell" by Madonna
Nominated By: Andrew Horne
Reason: For many years, I never liked Madonna. That is, until this song with a pop ballad and slow rhythm, and reaching #1 on the pop charts caught my attention to make it my favorite Madonna song.
Song: "How Soon Is Now?" by The Smiths
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: It's hard to believe this alternative rock hit is 25 years old. I've gotten into the song through Love Spit Love's version, but The Smiths' original version is a classic in its own right.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Jessica" by The Allman Brothers Band
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: One of the first songs recorded after Berry Oakley's death, it's a perfect song to listen to in the car. Dickey Betts has proven himself to be a competent songwriter, and there's so much great music, it's hard not to like.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The only song released after 1981 that AC/DC continues to perform live, it's one of their signature songs from The Razors Edge. Supported by the "thunder" refrain, it's also spawned a popular drinking game among college students. I've really gotten into the song through its popularity on my classic rock radio station.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Rock This Town" by Stray Cats
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I've never been a big rockabilly fan before, but I've started getting into Brian Setzer recently. The Stray Cats can really tear down the house.

Song: "Echoes" by Pink Floyd
Nominated By: Joedowling89
Reason: The centerpiece of the landmark album Meddle, this sprawling 23-minute masterpiece is the defining track in The Pink Floyd Sound's transition from art/apace/psychedelic rock to what is deemed by pundits to be true progressive rock. It marks Pink Floyd's finding of the collaborative direction that would elevate them to iconic status following the difficulties faced by the bands loss of their leader, acid casualty Syd Barrett. Themes of empathy and yearning amid an exquisitely beautiful lyrical setting, coupled with innovative techniques like daring tape and guitar effects, make this track a cornerstone of progressive rock.

Song: "Everything In Its Right Place" by Radiohead
Nominated By: Parsprototo
Reason: The first track on Radiohead's 8th album Kid A is one of the most moving and artificial tracks, even of Radiohead. It is quite different to the usual Radiohead-sound although it's lyric is at accostumed high Radiohead-level. There are many theories about the songmeaning, most likely is the description of depression and endogenous pain furthermore the reaction of ataractics. The song is really great work and shows why Radiohead is considered as such a good band

Song: "Masters Of War" by Bob Dylan
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: In the vein of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", this protest song by Bob Dylan criticizes wars fought for no true reason, as well as the proverbial men behind the curtain. It's definitely one of Dylan's most haunting tunes.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Shooting Star" by Bad Company
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The quintessential story of a rock star's rise and fall from stardom, it's been one of Bad Company's most popular hits for 30+ years. BC had some great music, and this is one of Paul Rodgers' finest compositions.
Music video on YouTube
Song: "Child In Time" by Deep Purple
Nominated By: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: At an epic ten minutes long, I think it's the longest Deep Purple song I've heard. But since it came from the first album with the Mark II lineup, its length can be overlooked. Ian Gillan demonstrates his full vocal range, and Ritchie Blackmore's guitar solos still rock, even almost forty years later. Listen to it here:

Song: "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" by The Beatles
Nominated By: Cubs Fan
Reason: I think this is probably the most progressive rock sounding song from The Beatles' catalogue. With its unusual structure and distinctive cut-off chord at the end, it was an interesting way to end side one of Abbey Road. But it's still a popular cut in Beatles lore.

Song: "Micro Cuts" by Muse
Nominated By: Parsprototo
Reason: This is a very special song. It's very...different from so-called "normal" songs...even for Muse. Matthew Bellamy is spectacular showing his singing-skills in falsett. The extremely high voice gives a feeling of dislodgement, the rude guitars get you back to earth. It's a great and very special song, worth being called SOFTD
Song: "The In Crowd" by Mitchel Musso
Nominated by: User:Wikiadud
Reason: This song really makes me think of my dead brother who I lost when I was only six and I feel his presence whenever I hear it and I also like it just because I like it and it's my favorite song and it would mean the world to me if this was the song of the day and i want to honor my brother by nominating this song for song of the day.
Song: "Collapse (Post-Amerika)" by Rise Against
Nominated By: Justin Vondall
Reason: This song is a great message to the world that we need to clean up our acts and begin think of the consequences of our actions i just find this song really amazing because it is a emotional call to duty by the band Rise Against
Song: "Burn It To The Ground" by Nickelback
Nominated by: some weirdo from around
Reason: When people think Nickelback, they think soft rock like Gotta Be Somebody or something like that. Many Nickelback fans overlook their harder stuff. An awesome song with an awesome rhythm, it's one of the Canadian quartet's best in my opinion. A great pump-up song.
Song: "Earth" by Imogen Heap
Nominated by: Timeoffire45
Reason: A misunderstood song, with many assuming that it is nothing more than the struggle of two lovers in an endless quarrel as they raise "Legoland empires" to combat one another. However, upon closer inspection, we find it to be a deeper tale of the struggle of our very planet to survive as we - as a race - ravage its surface; we are instructed to "Stop this right away / And put that down and clean this mess up" and told we will "Get only what you give back". Done in a style very similar to that of the Just For Now live performance which is pervasive on youtube (found here), with almost every sound one hears being a byproduct of Heap's voice layered on and over itself. In short, add together Heap's brilliance, her raspy - yet ethereal - vocals, and her seemingly endless talent for scat, and one produces this song.

Song: "The Zephyr Song" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nominated by: hebienub
Reason: To me, this is one of their greatest songs. Just everything about it wants to make me lie down and sing along to it. His voice, the drums and guitars combined with the video clip are so amazing I seriously listen to it everyday.
Song: "Turn The Page" by Metallica
Nominated By: Cubs Fan
Reason: Recorded after Lars Ulrich heard the original song while crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, it stayed at #1 on the Mainstream Rock Track chart for eleven weeks. The slide guitar that replaces the saxophone solos can still rock hard, even ten years later.

Song: "Ermutigung" by Wolf Biermann
Nominated By: Parsprototo 23:40, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
Reason: During a famous concert in 1976 Biermann himself descriped introduced this song with the words: "good people sometimes need some good people. And Encouragers also need encouragement sometimes". This is a strong ballad about not giving up. Biermann wrote the song for a friend of him, who was political prisoner under the SED-regime in the DDR. This song is about resist against the will of brutal people and about keeping your faith. It starts with "don't let you self get hardened in this hard times" and one of the last verses ends with "don't let yourself get tracked down, you need us and we need your joy". I think this is a timeless statement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e6q6tLRzGM
Song: "Up Around The Bend" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nominated By: Cubs Fan
Reason: Opening with John Fogerty's high-pitched guitar riff, it's about as un-swamp rockish as you can imagine. The song was still a major hit, reaching #4 in the United States, and #3 in the United Kingdom. It's a great Creedence song.

Song: "Long As I Can See The Light" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nominated By: Cubs Fan
Reason: Released as a double-A side with "Lookin' Out My Back Door", it's an emotional end to Cosmo's Factory. And John Fogerty proves himself to be a competent saxophone player, as well.

Song: "Presence Of The Lord" by Blind Faith
Nominated By: Cubs Fan
Reason: Written about finding Hurtwood Edge, his home in Surrey, it was the first song Eric Clapton wrote entirely by himself. Starting off quite calmly, it builds up to Clapton's explosive wah-wah guitar solo. This is probably my favorite song from Blind Faith after "Can't Find My Way Home".

Song: "Chasing Pavements" by Adele
Nominated by: Parsprototo
Reason: On Jan. 21st '08 Adele released her first single form her debut-album 19. It was the track Chasing Pavements which got in the top 3 of the UK-Charts, top 25 of U.S.-Billboard-Charts and the German Top-50. It's a great and deep soul-ballade about skepticism, unsureness and forsaking someone you love. The perfect poetic style of the lyric is impressively showing the inner conflict of heart, head and pride - something we probably all know too well. Theres also a very artful video--

Song: "Mordred's Song" by Blind Guardian
Nominated By: Falk
Reason: Personally I think it's the best song from the band. The lyrics explain, in a deep and poignant way, the relationship between a father who is the King, and a damned son, whom fate forced to be what he didn't want to be.
Preferred Date: April 26, 2010
Song: "My Dick" by Mickey Avalon
Nominated By: LotusMaster
Reason:I nominated this song for two reasons: number one because it's my birthday and number two, the really important reason, because it empowers me. Even though people might think it crude, there's an underlying message about the potency of self love and self respect in this song that goes far beyond that. It's awesome guy jam!
Preferred Date: April 29, 2010
Song: "Strip Cartoon" by Jethro Tull
Nominated by: greymanticore
Reason: Ah, Strip Cartoon. This quirky little song was outed from Jethro Tull's album, Too Old To Rock 'N' Roll: Too Young To Die (1976). Eventually the CD was re-released, including both 'Strip Cartoon' and 'A Small Cigar'. The song holds a special connotation to me. If a song ever made you want to dance in the rain, and catch raindrops on your tongue - if a song ever made you feel at peace, even amongst a riled crowd - that song has done for you what 'Strip Cartoon' has done for me. Ian Anderson tells a story that can only be left to our own interpretation. That story - this song - is the perfect one for a rainy day.

Song: "Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Nominated By: Cubs Fan
Reason: Written by Neil Young after seeing photos of the Kent State shootings in Life magazine, it's one of the quintessential protest songs of the 1970s. It was one of CSNY's biggest hits, and it remains a favorite on both classic rock and Top 40 radio.

Song: The Lost Concept:Modern Day Human Sacrifice: (http://www.myspace.com/thelostconcept)
Nominated By: 24.237.178.82 Cera
Reason: The Lost Concept is a fantastic Christian metal band from Anchorage, Alaska. Their songs hold meaning and truth in the vocals, and loud, fast-paced music. Modern Day Human Sacrifice is their pro-life/anti-abortion song, that I believe has saved lives. They aren't very well known, but they will be.
PROBLEM: Song does not exist.
