LyricWiki talk:Searching

[edit] Doesn't Work As Intended
Well, maybe the search feature does work as intended, but it doesn't work as I expected it to. If I search for part of a lyric the search engine does not look for the phrase but for each individual word. It also matches words inside of words, such as "to" inside "tomorrow". For the purposes of identifying a song (you don't know the title or artist) the search feature is almost completely useless.
[edit] Bad search capabilities
The search on here really sucks. eg, the song Mad World. If i type gary jules: mad world, no worries... but if i dont know the artist i just get pages and pages of every song with mad and world in it. It should search for phrases first or at least allow you to choose search-by-phrase. ("" doesn't work)

[edit] Searching is ineffective
I agree with the preceding comments. I've had better luck by just manually typing the Artist:Song format in my address bar and checking to see if there is text on the page than by using the alleged search engine. But what I described isn't searching. It's merely checking. If I were to search just a line or two of a song, if that's all I knew, I'd never find the unknown song.
This thing needs a complete overhaul. Unfortunately, I have no actual suggestions, merely complaints. --EriktheRed 18:20, 18 July 2008 (EDT)
