Tie breakers
Edit
How would we decide who wins when multiple songs/artists/album have the same name? --Aquatiki - T - E 14:18, 19 August 2008 (EDT)
- And how would this make things easier instead of more cluttered? --Mischko <img src="/images/3/31/Talkicon.png" alt="Talk to me" /> <img src="/images/1/1e/EsperanzaIcon.png" alt="Esperanza Member" /> 17:08, 19 August 2008 (EDT)
- Proposed Solution: What if an artist/album/song got the plain name until something came along with a conflict? Then the plain name would become a disambiguation page.
- I think, M, that this is not easier or less cluttered, but it would help us on Google ranking. --Aquatiki - T - E 03:22, 20 August 2008 (EDT)
- But yes M, if you search a song name on Google we do not come up, because we have the artist before the album. -PatPeter 15:28, 20 August 2008 (EDT)
(Resetting indent - not sure where to put this) It's better to end up at a disambiguation page and be looking at a few pages with the correct title than pages and pages of search results. As far as deciding which (if either) page is linked to directly, is there a way to see what pages get the most traffic? Or, if there's ever a conflict, then don't link to either page, just go straight to disambiguation page. Also, because most of the pages with the same-sounding title are spelled the same (because of the page naming policy), the disambiguation pages can probably be created by bots, except for between songs with deliberate misspellings — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Team a (talk • contribs).

And can you please remember to sign your posts please team a (tut tut) *gives team a a black mark*- Uh oh... I'll try harder next time. Now, I am also going to need a page to keep track of my black marks...
Actually, this brings up another important question. Is there a page to keep track of these special pages so I can look through them? I don't know how long it would have taken me to find that without your help. ♠team a ‹talk•ctrb› @00:23, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
EDIT: Found a list of special pages in the index. This should keep me busy for awhile. ♠team a ‹talk•ctrb› @00:41, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Credits
Edit
Okay, I saw the template on Aquatiki's page followed the link and was immediately at home. That was my first problem with LW. It rears its head only occasionally but when it does, it bites. May I suggest that if there are two or more songs with the same title a true disambiguation page as suggested by Aquatiki above. Most songs that have been around for a while, so-called standards, will have to have disambiguation pages and some of the pages will have to have separate sections. I dimly remember hearing that Harold Arlen wrote a song "Yesterday" before any of the Beatles were born. Both songs would have to be on the same disambiguation page accompanied by all the covers.
I can see one huge stumbling block in the way of this. Lyricist and composer are the best determiners of whether two songs with the same title are the same song or two different songs and none of the templates call for this information. There is a format for Credits but of all the songs I have been through while working on the Language problem I do not recall seeing any song that had proper credit.

- There has been a new emphasis on Credits, as you can see on the requirements for going Gold. I think (in regards to this debate) that as long as more than one page exists on LyricWiki (e.g. Dude1:Song and Dude2:Song) then a disambig page would have to be made. Personally, I like Wikipedia's way: if one page is wildly popular then they get the plain redirect. However, there is a
Song (disambig)page and a link to it atopBand:Song. --Åqüã†ìкí ƒΔΣ ¶ 17:06, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
