This is probably my favorite surf rock song. Brian Wilson really knows how to write great music. GoEar Audio on GoEar
"Summer's here, the sunlight greets the day!" A great song to listen to while being outside and the sun is shining brightly. GoEar Audio on GoEar
One of the greatest sing-alongs in pop music, this was one of the most popular songs of the 1960s. I really got into it after hearing it in an episode of the TV series "Crime Story". It's a true rock and roll classic. YouTube Music video on YouTube
What can I say? This song is just plain cool. You may not think Arnel is as good as Steve Perry, but his voice is just incredible in this song. This one never fails to get my energy up; I mean, just listen to the instrumental! YouTube Music video on YouTube
What can I say .. the words say it all ...the song I want playing at my funeral.
This nomination is to honor Michael Jackson due to his passing yesterday.
I've never really considered BTO a hard rock band before, but this song's bridge has given me that impression. I really enjoy this song. YouTube Music video on YouTube
The synthesizer riff at the beginning of the song is the same as the ending of the song. Steve Perry wrote this for his then-girlfriend, Sherrie Swafford. GoEar Audio on GoEar
This is one of the songs to have only one verse and the band sang the chorus the rest of the way. GoEar Audio on GoEar
I'm not a fan of High School Musical by any means. I heard this song on a YouTube video, unaware of its origins, and thought it was sad, but sweet. You don't have to be a fan to appreciate this song; I didn't even know where it was from. YouTube Music video on YouTube
Truly a song that captures the emotions of one faced with insurmountable odds. Johnny's low deep voice goes perfectly with the feelings of strength and resilience this song conjures. A perfect song for all number of occasions, ranging from fighting off an attack while outnumbered, to avoiding a foreclosure on your house.GoEar Audio on GoEar
This is the song that I listened to when my fiance and I went on our first date. It has the sweetest purpose, and the T's are just amazing. GoEar Audio on GoEar
The fifth track from Real to Reel is probably my favorite. Since I like the original by Robin Trower so much, I'm glad Tesla didn't change anything. It's a terrific song. GoEar Audio on GoEar
Mellow beat: check. Insanely difficult and impressive lyrics: check. Double stops on the bass: check. Song of the day already: ... What do you mean uncheck? This song made the RHCP 11th #1 and is by far their best yet. Combining the mellow feel of some of their other songs with high-speed guitar riff and REM worthy lyric speeds and you get a song that doesn't need more recognition, but should get it anyway. The song is strange and beautiful at the same time. It stimulates deeper thoughts, and the lyrics and melody of the song are pleasing to the ear. Ben Gibbard has such a wonderful voice that it makes "Grapevine Fires" an easy listen. GoEar Audio on GoEar
This song is a tribute to Dimebag Darrell, the guitarist of Pantera and Damageplan, who was shot by a fan during a Damageplan concert. Nickelbacks' vocalist Chad Kroeger was a good friend of Dimebag, so he wrote a song about his death. The solo in "Side Of A Bullet" is taken from unreleased recordings of Pantera. Geez, what an incredible song. Bret Michaels is an incredible singer, and this song was written out of his heart break over his girlfriend cheating on him. I think it would be a great choice. GoEar Audio on GoEar
This song by Hollywood Undead is the reason why they went from nothing to something. This song is one of the best songs on their album Swan Songs. This song can give a good meaning to the feeling of kids in these rough times. It is enjoyable and has a good tone and melody as well as lyrics. GoEar Audio on GoEar
This song, by far is my favorite song of all time, and has stayed that since I first heard it almost two years ago. I love it not only for the fact of it's awesome, almost rock melody, but for it's lyrics. While it gives the feeling of hopelessness throughout most of the song, the last line is extremely inspiring. The song itself has become my muse for all occasions. YouTube Music video on YouTube
This is one of my favorite songs from SRV's live catalogue. The ostinato riff is only six notes long, but it definitely sticks in your mind. GoEar Audio on GoEar
The second track from In Step is a great blues-rock song. Beginning with Chris Layton's drum fill, followed by Tommy Shannon's bass line, and then SRV's guitar playing, the whole thing fits together perfectly. GoEar Audio on GoEar
I absolutely love this song and noticed Godsmack have never been nominated. These guys should be heard more and this song never gets old to do pk to. It gives you the adrenaline rush you need to do loads of things. It always gives you inspiration to do many things, due to the heavy drums, but not heavy enough that it's Heavy Metal, enough that it's classed as Rock/Hard Rock. The song may be nearly 9 years old, but it's definitely one that, in my opinion, never gets old. YouTube Music video on YouTube
In the vein of Charlie Daniels' "The South's Gonna Do It Again", this Molly Hatchet song name-checks some of the most popular Southern Rock bands, ranging from The Marshall Tucker Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd to ZZ Top and The Outlaws. I think it's an awesome six minutes of music. YouTube Music video on YouTube
Reaching the Top 10 on the singles chart, this song by Wet Willie can take even the lowest low point in your life and turn that frown upside down. Keep on smilin'! GoEar Audio on GoEar YouTube Music video on YouTube
I heard this song while I was playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and it drew to my attention to like this song.

Although the band isn't widely considered part of the Southern Rock genre, Delaney & Bonnie's cover of the Dave Mason song is a rockin' little country song. GoEar Audio on GoEar
I think this song has got one of the greatest riffs in American hard rock. It broke into the Top 20 on the Billboard chart, and was one of two hit singles from Don't Say No. Let's do the stroke! YouTube Music video on YouTube
True to its title, the song, from Dream Theater's eighth studio album Octavarium, describes a person undergoing a panic attack springing from some sort of life-threatening danger. The riff is fast-paced and catchy and right from John Myung's hummingbird bass riff, the blast of Portnoy's drums and Petrucci's powerful guitars, to Rudess' beautiful yet sinister keyboarding, the song is the sort of power-house that only a supergroup like Dream Theater to come up with. The lyrics are spot-on and if you've had a panic attack before, or tend to get frightened a lot, you'll actually feel it all over again. GoEar Audio on GoEar
This song was nominated to pay tribute to Bo Diddley who passed away of heart failure one year ago (June 2, 2008). YouTube Music video on YouTube
The lead-off single from All That You Can't Leave Behind was one of U2's biggest commercial hits States-side since "Discothèque" in 1997. And it also gained fame for its use by President Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. A "beautiful day" indeed. GoEar Audio on GoEar YouTube Music video on YouTube
Well it is a good song, it has great rhythm and beat. The song was originally written about the United States' military intervention supporting the right wing extremist (Salvadorian Army) against the left-wing revolutionaries (FMLN) during the 1980's in the Salvadoran Civil War. For the first time since a long time there's a left-wing president, even after all the dirty campaign by it's opposition. I think it would be a great song for President-Elect Mauricio Funes inauguration on the 01 June 2009. GoEar Audio on GoEar
