Song: "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The Dire Straits' first single quickly became a Top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic, and helped Dire Straits reach #2 on the album chart. I love this song.

Song: "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The first time I ever heard of Eric Johnson was when I played the song in Guitar Hero III. Johnson's virtuosity on the guitar is beyond description. Just take a listen here:

Song: "Home" by Dream Theater
Nominated by: Clancy
Reason: After the failure of their previous album (Falling Into Infinity), it was crunch time for the band. They decided to do a follow up of "Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle And The Sleeper" from their album Images and Words. The album was titled Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory. The song "Home" was hailed (and still is) a Prog Metal masterpiece. The song is an amazing performance from all the band members, especially Jordan Rudess on keyboards.

Song: "Rockin' All Over the World" by Status Quo
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I'd never heard of Status Quo before learning they covered the John Fogerty song. While I like Fogerty's version, I like the Quo's version better.

Song: "Stranglehold" by Ted Nugent
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I'd really only heard of Ted Nugent because of "Cat Scratch Fever", but this 8:30 rocker is – for lack of a better word – awesome. The supporting bass and drum lines compliment Ted's guitar work to a T.

Song: "Do You Feel Like We Do" by Peter Frampton
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: The anchor of Frampton Comes Alive! is fourteen minutes of pure magic. Frampton's guitar riff, the keyboard solo, and the infamous talk box solo have made this one of the greatest live songs of all time, no doubt.

Song: "Godzilla" by Blue Öyster Cult
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: One of BOC's most popular hits, I think it's got one of the most recognizable riffs in hard rock. It's a bit different from "Don't Fear The Reaper", but it's definitely a song to remember.

Song: "Do It Again" by Steely Dan
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: I'm not overly familiar with Steely Dan, but this is my favorite song of theirs. It's true it runs about six minutes long, but every minute is something to enjoy.

Song: "Estranged" by Guns N' Roses
Nominated by: GunsNRosesfan
Reason: Their time together was short, but they changed rock history, Guns N' Roses added some life to it. Hell, they could even be considered the BEST 80's hair band. They had their flaws, but, simply, ONE OF THE BEST. An example of their awesomeness would be "Estranged", released in 1991, it began, and continues to be a popular Guns N' Roses hit. The lyrics are the work of a poet, with no set chorus, and the guitar is incredible. God plays the solos through the talent of Slash, the piano solo is amazing, and the music video is totally extravagant. Written at a "bummed out" time of Axl Rose, It is a GREAT song. I consider it the "Stairway to Heaven" of the 90's. Legendary Song.....

Preferred Date: November 15, 2009 - I'm a HUGE fan. It would be the MOST AMAZING Birthday gift.
Song: "Rocky Mountain Way" by Joe Walsh
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: Supported by the talk box solo, it's remained one of Joe Walsh's most popular solo hits for 35 years. I've never been a big Walsh fan, but this is one of my favorites.

Song: "Life's Been Good" by Joe Walsh
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: A satirical reflection of the rock star lifestyle, it was Joe Walsh's biggest commercial hit, reaching #12 on the chart. I think any music fan can enjoy it.

Song: "Black Magic Woman" by Santana
Nominated by: Cubs Fan2007
Reason: One of the greatest Latin rock hits, Santana's cover of the Fleetwood Mac song brought the genre to national attention. It also helped Abraxas reach #1 on the album chart. It's five and a half minutes of incredible music.
