• 2006-11-13: Send to a friend

  Now, every page has a "Send to a friend" link on the top right. If you click it and fill out a simple form, you can easily email a link to your friend. Please note: we do not record any of these email addresses for any purposes (ie: they will never be sold or spammed).

• 2006-11-08: New server

  Since our server couldn't handle all the traffic we were getting, LyricWiki is now on a dedicated server which should be able to take on the load much more easily. (For the curious: dual 3gig P4s with 1gig RAM)

• 2006-11-05: New main page

  Frontway and Teknomunk have done a great job making a new layout for the Main Page complete with a feed of the top songs from the iTunes Music Store.

LyricWiki in the old sense of the word has shut down. However, the entire contents has been contributed to this new wiki which is run by Wikia. Wikia has a licensing deal with music publishers, so the project will be able to survive and thrive!

Unfortunately, licensing agreements with the biggest publishers in the music industry require us to no longer offer the ability for programmatic access to LyricWiki's collection of lyrics.

We tried to arrange some way to let API Developers license through us, but this was not possible.

While this is not something we are happy about, it is a necessity in order to finally secure licensing for LyricWiki from the major publishers which will allow the project to survive indefinitely.

Thanks to the concentrated efforts of all the editors who took this project on board, there are now just 3 songs needing language identification. So how's about we give it our best shot over the next few weeks to reduce this figure to zero?

For the benefit of all our new editors, here's what needs doing: the language of the lyrics of all the songs found in the above category need to be identified and entered in the language parameter of the SongFooter (N.B. using the English language name).

After a long programming session, we now have watchlist feeds! These feeds are opt-in only. To get the URL to your watchlist feed, go to Special:WatchlistFeed and enable the feed. After doing so, links to RSS and Atom feeds will appear. Add to your favorite feed reader/news agregator.
