Excellent Page!Edit

Thanks for writing that. Just one question, with regards to user name I thought we were doing the ~~~~~ >>> {{Cert}}?  ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 17:09, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

??? ~~~~~ gives the date automatically. It's included in the Cert portion on the page. Or am I confused about your meaning?    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   21:49, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

Default template Edit

Since I'm new here, I didn't want to start editing a lot of things on help pages or anything, because I don't know if anything bad will happen if I do. So, I decided to post on it instead. It seems to me that the block quotation of what should be pasted onto a talk page to keep track of ratings (Including {{Song Info}}) is outdated, as it has parameters like "{{Song Rank|STAR TYPE}}" instead of "{{Song Rank|Green}}" and "| album = STATUS" instead of "| album = unknown" for the default values. These should probably start with green stars by virtue of the fact that they start out more or less unrated (Green replaces unrated, right?) team atalkctrb @17:41, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

As it states above the box, the items in GREEN should be replaced. Options for each are listed below.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   18:46, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
I understand what you mean, and I've used it as-is probably half a dozen times. Is there a way to just put the blank template into a page? Maybe I am just inserting the wrong thing here. team atalkctrb 23:40, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

What do you mean by a blank template? I'm not sure I 100% understand what you are looking for.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   03:32, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Lyrics formatting Edit

Hi there, I just stumbled across a lyrics page which had a fullstop at the end of every line. Is that the standard? Isn't it actually more beautiful if you don't write fullstops because sometimes one should not know where a sentence starts or end? And what exactly are those formatting standards? I made a link in the page here, it'd be nice of someone to write that down which I don't know of. English is not my mother tongue (as you may have already noticed due to bad writing style :)) ). Keep up the good work fellow users. -- Lexischemen 18:59, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
this help page has some pointers. There is no fixed rule whether you should use end-of-line punctuation or not. If the lyrics are more like prose, adding commas and periods is often a good thing since it seems more natural that way, and it can add clarity. On the other hand, if every line ends with a period this is usually a sign that EOL punctuation should be removed entirely.
Oh, and don't worry about your English – I've seen many native speakers do far, far worse :-) 6×9 (Talk) 19:06, February 8, 2011 (UTC)
