Introduction
Edit
Songs in languages other than English require additional formatting guides.
Language
Edit
In addition to the standard song categories, songs are categorized by their language by using the |language = parameter of the {{SongFooter}} template.
The following guidelines apply to the language parameter:
- The language name should be entered in English, i.e.
German, notDeutsch. - If the singer switches between two or more different languages while performing a song, these languages should be entered in alphabetical order separated by a hyphen, e.g.
English-GermanorGerman-Russian. - For instrumentals, the language parameter should be omitted.
Article Titles
Edit
Artist Name
Edit
The artist portion of any page name written in a non-latin based script should include the romanized version of the artist's name in parenthesis, with given name first and family name last. A single space should be inserted between the native name and the opening parenthesis. Example: 中島みゆき (Miyuki Nakajima).
Album or Song Title
Edit
The album or song portion of any page name written in a non-latin based script should not include a romanized version of the song or album name in parentheses. Example: 中島みゆき (Miyuki Nakajima):私の声が聞こえますか (1976) or 中島みゆき (Miyuki Nakajima):あぶな坂. Instead add {{TransTitle}} at the top of the song or album page.
For more information about the site page-naming guidelines, see LyricWiki:Page Names.
Lyrics
Edit
The top-most lyric section should be the song in the original language and in the original script for that language. Translations and romanizations of the song should be below this section of lyrics.
Romanization
Edit
Songs in non-latin based scripts should be romanized for people who cannot read that script. For more information, see Help:Romanization. Songs without this should be flagged with {{RequestRomanization|<language>}} directly before the native lyrics. <language> should be the full English name for the language.
Translations
Edit
Songs should be translated into English. For more information, see Help:Translations. Songs without this should be flagged with {{RequestTranslation|<language>}} directly before the Romanized lyrics or, in the case that the lyrics have not yet been romanized, directly before the native lyrics along with a romanization request.
Multiple Releases
Edit
Songs released in multiple languages have additional guidelines to this. See Help:Multiple Languages.
